I worked with Joules to design some kidswear for their SS20 collection. I spent a total of three months working with them as maternity cover, creating designs for boys and girls. It was so much fun. I really enjoy illustrating for children as you get to have a load of fun coming up with wonderful characters.
The designs are a mix of screen-print, applique and interactive prints (a chomp in Joules parlance – basically something with a flap you can lift up).
Dinosaurs, pirates, animals, adventures – these t-shirts have it all. It was great to be able to work on such a wide variety of designs across girls and boys. I’ve shown some examples of the original digital illustration and also some photos of the finished product. Because I was only covering the role for a limited time I wasn’t able to see the designs all the way through the manufacturing process so you’ll see some changes between my originals and the finished designs – these were done by others in Joules’ in-house design team.
I love how interactive these prints are. They must be so much fun to explore as a child.
I love how these embroidered letters have turned out. So effective!
This applies to pretty much ever Dalmatian that I've ever met...
Look at this guy! He's so hungry.
